Summer Fun at Cedarkirk

Help Send the Child   of a Farmworker to Cedarkirk this Summer!

During the summer, many of the worshipping community children are given an opportunity to spend a week at summer camp.  Donations for these children are accepted year round.  Cedarkirk is a covenant partner and presbytery-supported camp and conference center and of which Beth-el partners.

 Hunger Relief

  • On Tuesdays, a weekly Food Pantry supporting 80,000 individuals annually
  • Cena Comunitaria–a community dinner offered the 2nd Tuesday of every month for Farm Workers and all members of our community.
  • Ongoing nutrition program that provides fresh produce on a monthly basis to the Tuesday Food Pantry along with tasting samples and recipes that use ingredients available in that week’s pantry (What’s in the Bag)
  • Basic cooking classes (volunteer leaders welcome)

Food Distribution Program

At Beth-El’s facility in Wimauma, each Tuesday from 9:00 am to 2:00pm we distribute food bags containing basic nutritional food items such as rice, beans, canned goods, cereal, pasta, bread and other staples. This makes a very good supplement to the families’ weekly food needs, and in some cases is the mainstay of what families have to eat for the week.

Each week, an average of 400 to 600  families receive food through our hunger relief programs.

In 2015 Beth-El Farmworker Ministry began the “Healthy Living” program. Funded in part by the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay, and Allegany Franciscan Ministries, the Healthy Living program offers fresh fruits and vegetables along with nutritious recipes as part of our food distribution.

Beth-El receives food from the USDA’s TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program), Feeding America Tampa Bay, food banks, various food drives, local churches, clubs, organizations, and individuals. We are thankful for the generosity and help.
