Relay for Life is an annual local event organized by the American Cancer Society to raise awareness and recognize cancer survivors, caregivers and anyone interested in supporting the cause.

This year, the New Tampa Relay for Life will be held at Wharton High School’s athletic field on May 15/16th.  Wharton is located just north of the Wal-Mart on Bruce B. Downs Blvd.  Parking is in the north lot adjacent to the football field.  It is an overnight event with sponsoring organizations “camping out” on the football field and continuing to march around the track throughout the night.

In past years, our congregation has provided support by providing meeting space for the organizers and having our members, on Friday night, serve dinner to the survivors/caregivers and do some minor clean-up as well as handing out the promotional packages.  We wear our teal St Andrew shirts and meet near the snack bar around 5pm.

This is an excellent opportunity to show our “colors” and meet some very brave and inspirational survivors and care-givers.

Watch for the sign-up sheet in April, on the rear table of the sanctuary,  to indicate your willingness to participate.

Hope to see you there!!!
